More reflections on how to get there. Moving fully into the present moment, is to be in peace.
“Remember, wherever you go, there you are!” …is one of my all-time favorite movie lines quoted by Buckeroo Bonzai, the hero from the film of the same name. I often repeat them. I am reminded of my trip to the Yucatan and Guatemala in the late 1990’s. The ancient and magnificent Mayan ruin of Tikal was our destination. To get there by land required a long, almost three-hour bus ride, followed by a boat trip, and then another long bus ride into Guatemala.
As we embarked upon the first bus ride, I was already feeling wiped out from the heat and completely overwhelmed by the elements—the dust, the smells, the crowded bus with the colorful local gentry, their animals and their bales of hay— and yet two hours or more to go on the rickety bus. The “air-conditioning” consisting of mini-fans mounted above each seat, made little difference. I thought I would die.
My linear inner-self protested, “I can’t do this.” I also wrestled with a number of other inner voices for some time, as I applied every technique I knew to balance myself, all to no avail. My two male companions seemed unfazed. One of them, sitting close by was sleeping… sleeping! Finally, the proverbial voice of higher reason offered, “What are your options?” Talk about a tie-breaker! As the dusty, bumpy, smelly bus chugged along, the reality clicked in that my only other option was to become present and be at peace. It worked!
I moved into the moment, relaxed, surrendered and became peaceful. Where ever you are, whatever your circumstances, there you are—for a reason! You, your high self, and your soul, along with your team of guides, have chosen to manifest this situation for a higher purpose—a good reason! But, if you find yourself in any kind of resistance, you position yourself as a victim of your circumstance and sadly, you deny yourself the opportunity to explore that higher purpose. But, alas, resistance is the norm for most people, leading to anger, despair, resentment, futility, dis-ease and beyond, to full-blown conflict and war.
I want to gift you with the opportunity to step into the present and to experience, if only for a few moments, the grace of being present, of non-resistance, of stillness and peace. This short audio-recording is your opportunity to choose to step into your true being-ness for a moment or two, whether it’s the morning, the middle of your day, the evening, or perhaps just before you go to bed. Do this for yourself. Do this for all of us.
Enjoy!
