To keep our bodies toned and healthy we exercise our bodies.
To keep our brains alert and healthy, we exercise our brain by doing puzzles and using other stimulating technology.
To maintain our spiritual connection, we also need to exercise our ability to connect to our souls, to refocus our energies within. We have to exercise this ability since it does not come naturally or easily for most people, especially these days. More and more the urgency of the times cause us to become impatient when we cannot have immediate satisfaction – no matter what we are focused upon.
And yet when we focus within and move out of our own way and connect to the Divine, to our greater selves, amazing things happen, miracles happen.
So what are Spiritual Exercises? Meditating, chanting, focused breathing, sound therapy, yoga, guided visualization and many other tools, techniques and therapies designed to refocus your awareness to your soul being-ness, to your “larger self,” to your complete self. Take a class. Join together with others, find your perfect group or community.
And, much like flexing a muscle, it takes commitment and consistency. After a while though it will become like second nature, like a natural part of life, because you realize that meditation makes everything better and more balanced.
Happy meditating!
Stay tuned for news of my next workshop – “The Art and Science of Miracle-Making.”
It will be posted this coming weekend July 5th.
Love and Namaste,
